7 nabbed in Tikrit for voters’ register fraud

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Seven persons on Wednesday were arrested for rigging electoral registers in Salah al-Din’s Tikrit city, according to a source from the joint coordination center in the province. “Those arrested included an assistant director of Tikrit Teaching Hospital,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Nearly 1,00 persons have been brought in to the hospital to vote in favor of one of the political blocs participating in elections,” the source explained, noting that an investigation is currently underway to reveal more details. Meanwhile, the media official of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in Salah al-Din, Ali Issa, denied any knowledge of the incident. “Our staff have not sent us any details of the incident, but we will follow up with other bodies,” Issa added.
