Alawi describes Human Rights situation in Iraq as regrettable – serious
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iraqiya Slate, Aiyad Alawi described the human rights situation in Iraq as regrettable and serious.
Alawi said during his meeting with the executive director of Human Rights Watch Organization/ Middle East & North Africa Department “The situation of the Human rights in Iraq is regrettable and serious due to the daily violations that occurred at the protest squares or inside persons or even on the streets through the arrests and the assassinations and so forth.”
He added during meeting the executive director of the HR Watch, Sarah Otis and the researcher, Erin Evans “The respect of human rights is a fundamental pillar in the democracy all over the world, consequently, the democracy that we try to promote in Iraq is witnessing backwardness and the first reason for that is the government’s bad dealing with the crises and its control on the independent bodies including the human rights organizations.”
