New Stadium in 2009 – minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of youth and sport said that construction works will begin in early 2009 on a new stadium in al-Tajiyat area, northern Baghdad, with a total capacity of 30,000 persons, adding that rehabilitation works will be carried out on al-Shaab stadium when the new stadium becomes in service. “Many European and Turkish companies have submitted bids to construct the new stadium within a period of 6 – 9 months,” Jassim Mohammed Jaafar told IraqiNews.com.
