Zebari, Kobler discuss PCs election

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, and the Special Representative of the UN’s Secretary General, Martin Kobler, discussed the elections of the Provincial Councils and their results.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com cited ” Zebari received Kobler at the building of the FM where they discussed the PCs elections.”

“During the meeting they discussed the role of the UN Mission in the PC elections that took place recently in Iraq and its implications in the political developments,” the statement added.

“Kobler briefed the Minister on the results of his meetings with a number of parties of the political process and the country’s need for a mechanism to launch a national dialogue to address pending issues. They also discussed the development of Iraqi – Kuwaiti relations especially the technical measures for demarcation of the borders,” the statement pointed out, noting that ” For his part, the Minister stressed the importance of the UN role to exit Iraq from the remaining provisions of the Seventh Chapter of the UN’s Charter.”

“The meeting was attended by Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs, Adviser of the Minister, and Head of the Organizations Department,” the statement concluded.
