Sadr describes Kurds as strategic ally for Shiites

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, described the Kurds as strategic ally for the Shiites.

A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) reported “Mulla Bikhtyar, leading official within the PUK received on Monday, Sadr at his residence in Zamzam Hotel in Najaf, where the latter wished, during the meeting, the success for the Kurdish-Arabic Form being held in Najaf, stressing the significance of this Forum in enhancing ad strengthening the peaceful co-existence and developing the cultural movement.”

“For his part, Bikhtyar welcomed Sadr warmly,” the statement added noting “This visit indicates Sadr’s eagerness to the historical relations between the Kurds and the Shiites and all the other Iraqi people’s components, appreciating the positive attitudes of Sadr towards resolving the problems via peaceful means.”

Concerning the ties between the Kurds and the Shiites, Sadr assured that “The Kurds are a strategic ally for the Shiites.”
