Hakim, Kurdistan VP discuss controversial points between Baghdad and Erbil

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, who is visiting Kurdistan currently, discussed with the Kurdistan Region’s Vice President and leading figure within the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Kosert Rasoul, the disputes between the central government and Kurdistan Region government.

A statement by the SIIC reported that “During his meeting with Rasoul on Thursday in Sulaimaniya city, Hakim stressed the necessity to calm down the tensions and settle the problems via dialogue.”

“Rasoul and members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s political office congratulated Hakim on the remarkable findings achieved by the Citizen Coalition in the local elections,” the statement added.

“The delegation headed by Hakim discussed with the PUK’s political office, the controversial points between the central government and Kurdistan RegionG where they described the dialogue as best solution to settle the pending issues,” according to the statement.

“The conferees also discussed the regional situation where Hakim highlighted the need to bravely consider the regional situation and protect Iraq from those changes in the region by showing further harmony and unity,” the statement concluded.
