Anti-begging campaign launched in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Human Rights Ministry launched on Monday an anti-begging campaign in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, according to a ministry media spokesman. “The ministry is planning to remove all the beggars and homeless and mentally-handicapped people from the streets of Baghdad in a bid to curb this negative phenomenon in association with the ministries of national security, interior, and social affairs,” Hamza Kamel told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The ministry will also work to provide jobs for the physically-fit people in these categories,” he said. He noted that the human rights ministry’s main task is to protect and provide job opportunities for the Iraqi citizens who are groaning under poverty in accordance with the Iraqi laws and legislations.
