Iraq lost scholar Mahfodh – Talabani

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: In an urgent message, the President of Iraq Jalal Talabani relayed his condolences for the death of the Iraqi scholar Hussein Ali Mahfodh, according to a presidential release. “With the death of Mahfodh, Iraq lost a creative figure,” said the release that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Mahfodh was, and will remain, an important pillar for art and culture in Iraq,” it added. Mahfodh had been suffering from an illness for a week, before he died on Monday night (Jan. 19). Born in 1926, Mahfodh was specialized in eastern languages.
