Peshmerga SG, UNAMI discuss security situation in Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of Peshmerga ministry of Kurdistan Regional government, Jabar Yawar, discussed with security delegation from the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, (UNAMI), the situation in the disputed areas.

A statement by the Peshmerga reported “Yawar received on last Tuesday, in Erbil, a delegation from the UNAMI, comprising Colonel, Mohamed Badr, the military advisor for the UN in Erbil, and Colonel, Brain, the military advisor of the UN in Kirkuk. They discussed in the meeting, a number of issues related to the general situation of the central government of Iraq and the posture in the disputed areas in Iraq as well tackling the tensions in the western provinces.”

“The head of the Peshmerga ministry shed light on the peace agreement between Turkey and its opposition (PKK), stressing the need to implement this agreement positively. The delegation pointed out that the withdrawal of the PKK to Iraq would help calm down the tensions on Kurdistan borders,” the statement added.
