Iraq and Egypt have signed in last March an agreement, during the visit of the Egyptian delegation headed by the Premier, Hisham Qindeel, to Baghdad, which states in approving the Iraqi side to meet the demands of Egypt for providing the Egyptian body for oil with four million oil barrels per month from Basra fields via the Iraqi oil marketing company (SOMO).

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Shareef Hidara, said “The talks are ongoing with Iraq to import the crude oil,” noting “These procedures need long time.”
