Zibari, Kobler conclude pact to compensate Iraqi farmers affected by demarcation between Iraq, Kuwait

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari concluded with the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, an agreement to compensate the Iraqi farmers affected by the demarcation processes between Iraq and Kuwait.

It is worth mentioning that a number of citizens in Um Qasr sub-district in Basra province located within demarcation line the Kuwaiti government wants to set, where those citizens were demanded to evacuate their houses in a previous time.

A statement by the Iraqi FM reported “Zibari signed a pact with Kobler states in handing over financial compensations approved by the UN Security Council to the Iraqi farmers whom their farms were affected by the re-demarcation processes between Iraq and Kuwait during 1991-1994.”

“This resolution will be followed by another step to build residential city in UM Qasr to house the Iraqi families affected for the same reason,” the statement added.
