MoWR to establish artificial lake in Maysan

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Water Resources announced its intention to “establish an artificial lake in front of Dwirij dam in Maysan province near the Iraqi-Iranian borders in order to increase the groundwater and improving the environment.”

The Ministry of Water Resources reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The technical and engineering cadres in Rafidain General Company for Dams Implementation within the Ministry of Water Resources is carrying out the project of establishing Dwirij dam in Maysan province (3,5 KM) far of the Iraqi-Iranian borders.”

“The project is being implemented under the supervision of the General Commission for dams and reservoirs,” the statement pointed out.

“The dam aims to store the extra floods of the rain falling by forming a lake in front of the dam to make use of the stored water in irrigation, increasing groundwater and improving the environment,” the statement added. \END\
