Justice minister, Yemeni Ambassador to Iraq discuss transferring prisoners

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Justice, Hassan al-Shimmari discussed with the Yemeni Ambassador to Iraq, Zayd Hassan al-Wareeth, the situation of the Yemeni prisoners in Iraq.

A statement by the Minister of Justice mentioned “Shimmari received the Yemeni Ambassador where he stressed the ministry’s readiness to communicate with the embassy of Yemen in Iraq and following up the conditions and cases of the Yemeni prisoners in the Iraqi jails.”

“The two sides discussed the possibility to conclude an executive memorandum for transferring prisoners that adheres to the Arab Agreement for transferring prisoners among the Arab countries approved by Iraq in 2010,” the statement added.

” Yemeni delegation headed by the Yemeni Minister of Justice is expected to visit Iraq to negotiate about concluding an executive memorandum,” it pointed out.

“The number of the Yemeni prisoners in Iraq is 12 inmates,” the statement concluded.
