Kurdish official optimistic over findings of Maliki’s visit to Erbil

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Kurdistan Presidency Council, Fu’aad Hussein stressed that “It is expected the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki who has arrived to Erbil this morning to meet President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani to discuss the political situation in Iraq including the pending issues between the Central Government and Kurdistan Region Government and agree on activating the sub-committees between both sides.

The Kurdistan Region Presidency Council’s head added “During the meeting that was held between Maliki and the President, Barzani earlier in Baghdad, a high commission was formed headed by each of them along with six other commissions where these commissions will hold their meetings later on.”

About whether there will be positive atmosphere to reach agreements concerning the pending issues or not, Hussein said “After the last visit of Kurdistan Region Premier, Najirvan Barzani, to Baghdad and the current visit of Maliki to Erbil which is a good step by Maliki, I think there is good indicatives for developing mutual agreements over many ending issues.”

“The expected unconditioned meeting that will gather Maliki with the President Barzani, will help pave the way for activating those mutual sub-Commissions,” he stressed.
