Civilian wounded by unknown gunmen fire south of Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: A civilian man was wounded by unidentified gunmen fire south of the city of al-Hilla on Sunday, police said. “Unidentified gunmen opened fire today (Feb. 22) at a civilian man in front of his house in the city of al-Qassem, (30 km) south of Hilla, leaving him seriously wounded,” a security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Policemen arrested two persons suspected of involvement in the incident,” he said, adding the two men are under investigative custody. Meanwhile, three mortars landed today on the headquarters of the Iraqi army’s 31st Brigade in central Hilla but caused no casualties, the same source added. Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
