Najaf PC holds its session to nominate Governor

Najaf (IraqiNews.com) Najaf new Provincial Council held its session to nominate the Governor after nominating three candidates to assume the post including the former Governor on Thursday.

A source form the PC stated to IraqiNews.com “Three figures are nominated to assume the Governor post who are the head of Loyalty for Najaf bloc, Adnan al-Zurfi, and the member of Citizen Alliance , Khalid al-Jashaami, and the Independent member, Mahdi Kamouna.”

Earlier, Najaf new Provincial Council voted on nominating Khudair Nima al-Jobouri of the State Just Trend as its Chairman on Thursday.

IraqiNews.com reporter stated “Jobouri got 15 votes out of 29 while Citizen and Ahrar alliances objected the nomination and considered it as illegal since the post requires 16 votes.”

He added “The two alliances announced their intention to appeal to the Federal Court against the nomination,” noting that “Member of the State of Law Coalition, Luay al-Yasiri, was nominated as the Deputy Chairman after getting 23 votes out of 29.”
