Maliki receives phone call from Ki-moon

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki received phone call from the UN Secretary-General, Baan Ki-moon, during which Ki-moon informed Maliki that the UN will do its best to exempt Iraq from the UN Charter’s 7th Chapter.

A statement by the Prime Minister office “The Prime Minister Maliki received a phone call from Ki-moon where the latter welcomed the progress happening in Iraq-Kuwait bilateral relations, stressing that the UN will exert concerted efforts to relive Iraq from the UN sanctions stated in the UN Charter’s 7th Chapter.”

“The Secretary General commended the Iraqi government’s efforts to resolve all the problems inherited from the former regime with the world countries, especially with the neighboring countries,” the statement added.

“For his part, Maliki applauded the UN praiseworthy role and its support for Iraq, especially in the file related to the Seventh Chapter,” the statement concluded.
