Barzani, German official discuss bilateral relations – Iraq’s political situation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, discussed on Sunday with Nils Schmid, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance and Economy in Baden-Wurttemberg Region of Germany, the bilateral relations and the situation in Iraq and the region.

A statement by Kurdistan Region Presidency office cited “The German official expressed his pleasure for visiting Kurdistan and meeting the President Barzani,” noting that “Schmid reviewed the agenda of his visit and stressed that the stability and security characterizing Kurdistan Region is the best motive for the German companies to come to Kurdistan and invest in various fields there.”

“For his part, Barzani thanked the visiting delegation and expressed his willingness to upgrade the bilateral relations between Kurdistan Region and the German Region,” the statement added, expressing Kurdistan Region’s readiness to cooperate with the German Region in fields of education, agriculture and tourism.”

“The members of the German delegation extended some questions and inquiries about the economic posture in Kurdistan Region, then the two sides discussed the political situation in Iraq and the region and the relations between Kurdistan Region and Baghdad as well as discussing the peace agreement concluded earlier between Turkey and the PKK opposition Party,” the statement concluded.
