32 wanted persons arrested in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Thirty-two wanted persons were arrested on “terrorist and criminal” charges, and an amount of weapons were seized in a wide-scale security operation conducted during the early hours of Sunday in different areas of Basra, the province’s police media office said. “In a crackdown in different areas of Basra, security authorities captured 32 persons, including 11 wanted on charges of involvement in terrorist activities. One woman is among the 11 wanted persons,” the office told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Our forces also seized an amount of weapons in the raid,” it added, not revealing figures or types of weapons seized. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
