Tuma criticizes parliament procedures regarding investigating corrupted officials

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Fadhila bloc MP, Ammar Tuma, described the failure of the parliament in endorsing the law draft related to investigating the officials as “Deterioration for the efforts of fighting corruption.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, he said “The objection of the parliament over endorsing the Integrity law draft that includes some procedures to punish the officials who did not submit their financial statements, is considered as deterioration to the efforts of fighting corruption.”

“Ensuring the flexibility in the performance of the key officials is a main base for eliminating corruption and seizing it,” noting that “It is surprising that implementing the procedures of investigating and punishing the officials who did not submit their financial statements without including the MPs and the key officials in addition to not pressurizing them to adhere to these procedures.”
