Bus driver killed by AQI gunmen in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Gunmen believed to be members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) shot down a bus driver northeast of the city of Baaquba on Friday, according to the Diala police chief. “Gunmen from the AQI network opened fire at a passenger bus driver on the main road leading to the area of Imam and Yassin, Khanaqin district, (155 km) northeast of Baaquba,” Maj. General Abdulhussein al-Shimari told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The driver was returning from a trip in which his bus carried Iranian pilgrims to holy places,” Shimari said. “The gunmen escaped to an unknown place after the operation,” he added, not giving more details.
