MP rules out endorsing Reconsidering Borders law during current parliament term

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Wihda al-Jumaili, ruled out endorsing Reconsidering Borders law draft during the current term of the parliament.

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, she said “Reconsidering Borders law draft is the result of implementing the expired Article 140 of the constitution,” noting that “The Kurds call for adhering to this Article to reconsider the borders of Kurdistan Region.”

“This law draft aims at taking some areas of some provinces and including them to some others in addition to canceling or creating others where it will affect the social texture and increase the sectarian conflict,” she added.

“This law draft became an obstacle to endorsing the other law drafts at the parliament such as Criminalizing the Ba’ath Party, the Justice and Accountability and the General Amnesty law drafts,” she pointed out, assuring that “All these law drafts will not be endorsed at the current term f the parliament because each on of them is rejected by a certain bloc.”

“The insistence over endorsing the law drafts is not for the benefit of the national reconciliation and there will not be stability in Iraq and the political process,” she concluded.
