Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Suzan al-Sa’ad of the Fadhila bloc called the central government and Basra local government to listen to the masses’ demands and rights concerning providing security and services.

She said “The demonstrations that took into street across Basra expressed the despair and discontent state due to the lack of services especially the electricity current as well as the security degradation.”

“The second amendment on the Provinces Law, No 21 for 2008 has given the local governments wide authorities, this makes them responsible for any shortage in the services especially the electricity file, so the people in Basra will not accept any excuse or justifications any longer,” Sa’ad stressed.

“Concerning the security situation, I think the replacement of the security leaders and the talk about new security plans and holding of meetings is no longer fruitful in light of the terrorism that swept the province similar to the rest provinces which harmed the investment movement in Basra as being Iraq’s economic capital,” she concluded.
