1st optical telecoms network in Iraq goes to Thi-Qar

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: The first optical network in Iraq is going to be executed in Thi-Qar, with a total length of 350 km, the director of the province’s telecommunication and mail department said on Tuesday, explaining that the network will serve around 30,000 users. “The network will cover many neighborhoods in Nasseriya city,” Engineer Hussein Mohammed Barakat told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The project’s total cost is around $3 million U.S. dollars,” he said. Currently, there are around 20,000 users of landline phones in Nassiriya, the capital city of Thi-Qar province (380 km south of Baghdad). MH (P) / SS 1
