Citizen MPs cancel their retirement salaries

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The MPs of the Citizen bloc announced releasing an initiative and canceling their retirement salaries and informing the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, about this initiative.

The head of the Citizen bloc stated in a press statement on behalf of all the MPs of the Citizen bloc “The citizen bloc held continuous meetings in the last few weeks where it adhere to the calls of the Religious Authority and the masses to cancel the retirement salaries of its MPs, the ministers, the three presidencies and the provincial councils.”

“After discussing this issue, we have realized that these salaries will negatively affect the citizens and make a distinction among them where the Citizen bloc decided to inform Hakim over this decision,” he added.

He recited the letter that the MPs sent to Hakim, by saying “Due to the calls of the Religious Authority and to our belief that these salaries will affect the citizens and the State budget, we have decide to cancel our retirement salaries and the last decision is yours.”

“All the MPs signed this letter and expressed their readiness to implement it,” he concluded.
