Maliki instructs to dismiss, detain security leaders of Abo Gharib prison

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, instructed to detain the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army Fourth Division and the Commander of the Federal Police Regiment who were tasked to provide protection to Abo Gharib prison during the jailbreak incident.The Media Office of the Premier reported in statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The Prime Minister held a meeting with a committee tasked to investigate Abo Gharib prison jailbreak at his official office on Saturday,” noting that ”The Committee offered its report along with the statements of the officers in charge of protecting the prison.””The initial investigations referred an obvious breach in the control of the prison where the prisoners manage to communicate with the outdoors community through cell phones or other methods and the administration did not take any action to prevent such breaches,” the statement added.”The Prime Minister ordered to detain several officers on the bases of their neglect for their duty including the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army Fourth Division, the Commander of the Federal Police Regiment along with his assistances, the intelligence elements, Federal police elements who were inside the prison during the jailbreak time,” the statement pointed out.Taji and Abu Gharib prisons were attacked by unidentified gunmen among them Qaeda elements using IEDs, missiles and machineguns on last Sunday. \END\
