IHEC specifies seats number for elections of Kurdistan Region

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Independent High Electoral Commission specified the number of the seats for the elections of Kurdistan Region in 2013.

A statement by the IHEC received by IraqiNews.com cited “Due to the preparations for holding the elections of Kurdistan Region in 2013, the Board of Commissioners decided to specify the number of the seats of the elections.”

“The decision is based on the Provinces Election law of Kurdistan Region No. 3 in 2009 and the Local Councils Election law of Kurdistan Region No. 4 in 2009 and according to the population of Kurdistan Region,” the statement added.

“Sulaimaniyah province was granted 32 seats, Erbil was granted 30 seats and Dohouk was granted 27 where the women’s seats in Sulamaniyah are 10, in Erbil are nine and nine is Dohouk,” the statement concluded.
