KA MP: Distributing seats, dual citizenship hinder endorsing Elections law

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ashwaq al-Jaf, of the Kurdistani Alliance stated that the political blocs agreed upon adhering to the Open-slate system during the next parliamentary elections, assuring that “Distributing the seats and the dual citizenship hinder endorsing the Elections law.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, she said “Most of the political blocs agreed upon adhering to the Open-slate system during the next parliamentary elections in spite of the obstacles over the multiple electoral units where we support to have one electoral unit that consolidate the national unity and makes any MPs a representative to all Iraqis not a certain province.”

She expected “To endorse the Elections law after a long period of time at the parliament.”

She called “The political blocs to quickly and seriously endorse this law draft,” noting that “Choosing the electoral system prepares the culture and democratic system that allows the voters to freely choose their representatives.”
