VP: Oil resources for Iraqis, central gov’t

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The presidential committee assigned to review economic and financial issues, including the oil and gas sector, has concluded that oil resources are owned by the Iraqi people and the central government in Baghdad, Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi said. “Hashemi listened to a report by the minister of oil on the controversial issues between the central government and Iraq’s Kurdistan region,” according to a presidential statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “There are good intentions to put a prompt end and to find a solution that is acceptable to all parties. Oil experts and economists have been summoned from the Kurdistan region to discuss the entire issue with the committee, which we hope will come up with recommendations and positive solutions,” Hashemi added.
