Press Freedom Defense Association condemns assaulting journalist in Dhi-Qar

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Freedom of Press Defense Association condemned assaulting the correspondent of Dhi-Qar Nafitha News Agency by security elements while he was covering the night demonstrations in Nassiriya city.The Director of the News Agency, Hayder al-Sharifi, told the Press Freedom Defense Association that ”The correspondent of the Agency suffered an assault by the security forces, intelligence elements, while he was covering the night demonstrations which were launched in Nassiriya city protesting the deterioration in electricity power and municipal services in the province.”He added ”The security forces dragged the journalist and took his personal cellphone by force and they deleted all the photos that he captured for the demonstrators, ” noting that ”The security forces detained the correspondent in unknown location and released him an hour after the end of demonstrations,” he concluded. \END\
