Maliki, protestors’ demands to be discussed within Tuesday Cabinet session

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki announced receiving the protesters’ demands to cancel pensions of members of the three Presidencies.

Maliki reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”We have received the demands of the demonstrators and it will be discussed during the session of the Cabinet of Tuesday, hoping that the MPs will positively react towards the new pensions law draft.’

”’Demonstrating is a legitimate right of the citizens whether approved by the State or not and the Government is responsible for providing the opportunities as a democratic feature,” he added.

”The protesters’ demands go along with the Constitution which does not include any item regarding pensions or salary of Parliamentary figures as well as the high pensions are depleting the State Budget,” he concluded.
