SG of COM, Japanese Ambassador for Iraq discuss economic cooperation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Ali Esmael, discussed with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Masato Takaoka, the economic cooperation prospects between both countries as well as the events in the region.

The Secretary General said “The Iraqi-Japanese relations are deep-rooted and based on the mutual interest, and they are good example for the ties that should be present among the countries.”

“The Japanese companies are sharing the oil investments at the southern region of Iraq and those companies are expected to expand these investments to other sectors,” he added.

Concerning the political situation in the region and the Japanese government’s stance on the expected military strike against Syria, the Ambassador said “Japan has strategic relations with the USA and it did not declare specific attitude so far over this issue as it awaits the US Congress’s decision.”
