Iraq to release 8 Jordanian prisoners soon

(IraqiNews.com) The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Iraqi government will release a number of Jordanian prisoners in Iraq according to a presidential decree where the first group includes eight arrestees.

The Prime Minister of Jordan, Abdullah al-Nasour said on 27th of past May that “The Jordanian prisoners in Iraq will be transferred to Jordon soon to complete their sentences there,” noting “The issue will be settled soon, but it needs further procedures.”

The official Jordanian News Agency (Batra) quoted the spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry, Sabah al-Rafaye as saying “The Iraqi Presidency Council’s Head informed the Jordanian Ambassador for Baghdad that the Vice President, Khudhair al-Khuzaye signed a presidential decree to release the first group of the Jordanian prisoners which comprises eight ones.”

Rafaye pointed out “The topic will be referred to the Iraqi Minister of Justice who will then refer it to the Reform Department to follow up the release proceedings.”
