Official statement: Nijaifi, Erdogan agree upon settling disputes, exchanging visits

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The office of the parliament Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, announced that Nijaifi and the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayib Erdogan, agreed upon settling the disputes between Iraq and Turkey.

A statement by Nijaifi’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Nijaifi and Erdogan discussed the mutual relations and the means to settling the tensions between the two countries,” noting that “The meeting was attending by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu.”

“Nijaifi assured the readiness of Iraq to resume its relations with Turkey and the necessity of settling the disputes for the interests of the peoples of the two countries,” the statement added.

“Erdogan welcomed this visit, expressing his readiness to promote the bilateral relations where the two sides agreed upon starting a new phase and exchange the visits,” the statement concluded.
