Former CBI Governor passes away in Erbil

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The former Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq before the US invasion to Iraq, Esam Rasheed Huwaish, passed away in Erbil on Thursday due to a heart attack.

The late governor of the CBI is considered among the distinguished specialists in financial sector and assumed the responsibility of managing the CBI for ten years until he was arrested in 2003.

Huwaish spent seven years in prison and was released for not being guilty.

He started working as an advisor for a bank situated in Erbil after being released.

He suffered from health troubles in the heart and he was waiting to undergo a surgery in the heart but the fate did not wait.
