MP denies agreement between Maliki, Nijaifi related to postponing elections

Bagdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Mufeed al-Baldawi, of the State of Law Coalition denied the reports over reaching an agreement between the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki and the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi regarding postponing the elections of the Parliament for a whole year.Baldawi stated to IraqiNews.com ”The Parliament will be forced to adopt the valid current elections law if the political blocs failed to ratify the new draft of elections law,” noting that ”The Parliament will only amend the current elections law related to the resolution of the Federal Court concerning the distribution of seats.””The Federal Government committed the Parliament to held the elections on 30/4/2014 and the Parliament committed the Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC to update the voters record on 1/11/2013,” he added. \END\
