Curfew lifted in Sinjar for Friday prayer

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Local authorities in Sinjar lifted the curfew imposed on the district because of the Friday prayer, the district’s mayor said, noting that the crackdown operations still underway to hunt down gunmen. “The local authorities in Sinjar announced on Friday (Mar. 13) the lift of the curfew imposed on the district because of the Friday prayer,” Dikheel Qassem Hassoun told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that the forces would continue the operations to hun down gunmen in Sinjar. Hassoun had said yesterday that Local authorities in Sinjar announced a curfew in the district and the beginning of a military operation to track down gunmen in the area. Sinjar is 120 km west of Mosul. “The operation relies on intelligence tip-off,” he said. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P) 1
