Car bomb seized, 10 IEDs defused west of Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Security forces in Sinjar on Saturday seized a car bomb that was driven by members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network in the northern part of the district while other forces defused 10 improvised explosive devices west of Mosul, police said. “A security force in Sannoun, (45 km) north of Sinjar, seized a car rigged with explosives prepared for detonation at a checkpoint in the district. Three persons were on board with light arms in their possession,” a security source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Investigations with the three men showed that they belong to AQI,” he said, not revealing more details. Sinjar lies 120 km west of Mosul. Meanwhile, a police force defused 10 IEDs north of the district of Rabiea based on intelligence tip-offs, a local police source said.
