Saad objects depriving oil-producing provinces of their rights

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Suzan al-Saad, from Basra province considering revoking the article (44) of the provinces law as a clear injustices for the oil-producing provinces.Saad demanded in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The Federal Court should study the article (44) of the provinces law with the representatives of oil-producing provinces before issuing a verdict regarding the appeal that was filed by the Federal Government over the (22) law of 2008.””The article (44) of the provinces law commits the Government to grant USD five dollars in return of each curde oil barrel that been extracted from the province and another five for each refined oil barrels as well as the same amount in return of (150) of gas produced in the province,” she explained.”Canceling this article is a clear unfairness against the people of these province since wide areas of their provinces are deducted to used in extracting oil while many people living under poverty line and the lack in services in all levels,” she concluded. \END\
