Talabani discusses bilateral relations with British amb.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani met on Friday with the British ambassador in Iraq to discuss bilateral ties between Baghdad and London, according to a presidential statement. “Talabani received on Friday afternoon in Baghdad Ambassador Christopher Prentice and his accompanying delegation. The two sides reviewed the results of the provincial council elections and their effect on the country’s political map,” read the statement as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Talabani and Prentice also exchanged views on the current political challenges and the efforts exerted to solve pending issues,” it added. The provincial council elections were held in 14 out of Iraq’s 18 provinces. The four provinces where elections were not conducted were Kirkuk and the three autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region provinces of Arbil, Sulaimaniya and Duhuk. AmR (P) 1
