Issawi receives delegation of Makhmour chieftains, notables

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi received at his office in Baghdad on Sunday a delegation of chieftains and notables in the district of Makhmour, Ninewa province, according to a release issued by Issawi’s media office. “Deputy Premier Issawi praised the positive role played by Iraqi clans in the efforts to strengthen national unity, bring about security and back plans to impose order and respect the rule of law,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Issawi also exchanged views with his guests on the problems facing them and means to reach solutions,” it added. Makhmour is a district that lies in the middle between the provinces of Arbil, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Ninewa. A very fertile plain that boasts spacious graze lands, Makhmour is a disputed area between the federal government and the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region government. It has been cut away from Arbil and annexed to the province of Ninewa 1991. AmR (P)/SR 1
