OIC secretary general arrives in Najaf to meet Sistani

NAJAF / IraqiNews.com: The secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, arrived in Najaf on Tuesday to meet top Shiite cleric Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, a media source said. “Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu arrived in Najaf on Tuesday evening and Najaf governor Asaad Abu Kalal received him,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The OIC official headed to the office of Shiite top cleric Ali al-Sistani to meet him,” he added. He gave no more details. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu met with a number of Iraqi officials over the past two days, including President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and as well as foreign ministry’s officials.
