JFO urges Talabani to allocate salary for former press chief’s family

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Journalistic Freedoms Observatory (JFO) on Wednesday called on President Jalal Talabani to allocate a monthly salary for the family of former head of Syndicate of Journalists, Shihab al-Tamimi, who was killed in Baghdad one year ago. The JFO expressed confidence of the possibility of taking such a decision to honor al-Tamimi. The Septuagint veteran journalist Shihab al-Tamimi was killed in an assassination attempt carried out by unknown gunmen in Waziriya district, central Baghdad last year. He was elected chief of the Syndicate of Journalists following the fall of the former regime in 2003 for two terms. SH (P) 1
