Exclusive oil – gas export rights of Iraqi Government asserted by Shahristani

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristani, hosted the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Faruq Qamichi, at his office in Baghdad and the two sides discussed the means of promoting bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey.

Shahristani media office reported in a statement received by IraqiNews.com ”The meeting touched on the problems related to smuggle the Iraqi oil across the Turkish borders without informing the Federal Government and the Ministry of Oil.”

”The oil and gas are natural resources and considered property of all Iraqi people according to the Iraqi Constitution and the only aspect that authorized to export these fortune and receive their financial revenues is the Federal Government,” the statement added.”The Iraqi Government look forward to promote relations with Turkey due to its rule in solving the crisis arena,” the statement concluded.
