PFA condemns closing Radio station at Media College

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Press Freedom Advocacy Association called, ‘The media and communications Commission to “Reopen the Radio Station at the College of Information” and exempt it from the fees of its used frequency to be used for training purposes.”The security forces sealed off the radio stations last week, according to the orders of the media and communications commission without judicial orders.The director of the Faculty of Information Radio Station Dhiya Mustafa, stated to the Press Freedom Advocacy Association that “The Radio was shut down according to a decision from the media and communications though its used to train and develop students’ skills at Media Collage,” noting that “The Faculty of Information called the media and communications Commission to exempt the radio from the wages of the Radio spectrum as a non-profit branch of the Ministry of Higher Education.”He pointed out that the “Student of the Faculty, after hearing the news of closing, started a protest demonstration, condemning the decision of closing the radio station, and demanded to reopen the Radio station,” indicating that “The Radio was founded in 2008, based on a license to broadcast on the AM, from the media and communications Commission.”
