Iraq, Iran agree to increase importing electric power

Follow-Up (IraqiNews.com) The Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed an agreement to increase the Iraqi imports of Iranian electric power.

The Iranian Minister of Energy, Hamid JitJean said in a press statement on Wednesday “IRI signed new agreements with Iraq to increase the exports of electric power to Iraq into 500 MW daily as a beginning.”

The Iranian Minister added “The concluded agreements with Iraq include increasing the exports of electric power and developing the activities of the Iranian companies in Iraq.”

It is worth to mention that Iraq imports about 1000 MW of electric power daily from Iran.
