IIP official in Tikrit escapes attempt on his life

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: An official of the Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party in Tikrit survived an assassination attempt when an improvised explosive device went off near his vehicle in the central part of the city, an Iraqi police source said on Sunday. “An IED went off on Saturday (Feb. 22) evening near the vehicle of Jamal al-Kilani, an official of the IIP office in Tikrit,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Kilani escaped unscathed but his driver sustained medium injuries and his vehicle damaged,” the source added.
