Shepherd wounded as landmine goes off in Makhmour

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A shepherd was wounded when a landmine went off in western Makhmour on Sunday, a source from the al-Ghuweir district said. “A landmine went off on Makhmour-Ghuweir highway, (45 km) west of Makhmour, leaving a shepherd wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Makhmour district, which administratively belongs to Ninewa province, is one of the disputed areas between the central government and the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region’s government. It lies 68 km southwest of the Kurdish city of Arbil. “The man, a local resident of al-Qiyara district, (60 km) south of Mosul, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
