More blasts hit Baghdad; 5 casualties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Five persons on Wednesday were injured in a car bomb explosion in western Baghdad, the sixth to hit the Iraqi capital today. “On Wednesday evening, a car bomb detonated in al-Shurta al-Rabaa area, western Baghdad, leaving five persons wounded,” an Iraqi police source said. Earlier today, four car bombs detonated in the capital Baghdad. An official spokesperson for Baghdad’s Operations Command (BOC) said that two car bombs exploded in Baghdad’s Sadr City, leaving nine dead and 72 wounded. The first was next to Maridi market and the second near the city’s market, according to the official. Meanwhile, two cars rigged with explosives went off simultaneously in Jaffat Street of the predominantly Shiite city of al-Hurriya, leaving an unknown number of casualties.
