3 ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ members arrested in Diala

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Three members of the self-styled ‘Islamic State of Iraq’ on Wednesday were arrested in Diala province, according to a local security source. “Emergency police forces in the province arrested three gunmen in Tabaj village (30 km southwest of Khanaqin), who confessed to being members of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq’,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Documents belonging to the organization were found in their possession,” the source noted. The Islamic State of Iraq is an armed organization that was set up in 2006. Most prominent of its groups is al-Qaeda in Iraq, led by a man called Abu Omar al-Boghdadi. Khanaqin district lies 155 km northeast of Baaquba, the capital of Diala province, which lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
